HDKI Northern Grassroots Competition 2025

We had a fantastic day at the HDKI Northern Grassroots Competition.

It was the first competition for many of our students who went, and the ability and courage on show was great to see.

Between them, our fourteen competitors came homes with two gold medals, six silver medals, and eight bronze medals.

Well done to all who took part!

HDKI Summer Seminar and Dan Grading

We were delighted to have an outstanding weekend with Scott Langley Sensei, and many other members of the HDKI community, exploring twitch and relax in our movements, and how it can be applied throughout our karate, using Kata Empi and Gohan Kumite as a vehicle.

We are also very proud Ren passed his Shodan assessment, earning his black belt with an excellent performance. We are all very proud of him!

Training with Keelan Gannon Sensei

We welcomed Keelan Gannon Sensei to our Dojo for a superb evening of karate.

Classes focussed on hip rotation throughout, with the children’s class getting to finish off trying out their flying kicks, which I am sure you can see was practised with great enthusiasm!

Our adults put their rotations into practise in kumite and kata situations, with members preparing for their Shodan gradings this weekend.

Thank you very much to Keelan Sensei for a wonderful evening, and we cannot wait to host you again!

HDKI GB Northern Squad Training – February 2025

The first HDKI Northern Squad training session took place, and Randori SKC were represented by several members.

Over three hours of training, we worked on various ways to improve our competitive kata and kumite, under the watchful eyes of Squad Coaches Julie Nicholson Sensei, John Nicholson Sensei, and our very own Stuart Amos Sensei.

A highlight for all was seeing Pippa receive her Shodan certificate.

Squad training sessions are an excellent stepping stone to potential future opportunities, and if interested be sure to speak to Stuart Amos Sensei in club!
